RangePro Model 1000 Impulse Meter - Specifications
The RangePro 1000 is a precision, compact instrument for testing and measuring rocket motor parameters.
These parameters are used to predict rocket flight characteristics, calculate specific impulse of propellant mixes,
and test batches of motors in production. It combines features and accuracy previously found only in custom
instrumentation costing five to ten times as much. Any standard 350 ohm load cell may be used. Total Impulse,
Peak Thrust, Burn Time, and coast Delay Time are measured. The data is displayed by direct numerical readout
and/or concurrent time-thrust plots. Plots in real time are achieved by a 12-bit digital output and software option
for PC or Macintosh computers and measurements may be stored and printed. Data may be overplotted to
determine consistency of batches. An Excel compatible file can be generated for even more detailed analysis. A
pressure transducer may be used in place of a force transducer to measure peak pressure and pressure vs. time.
The meter is calibrated for the user's transducer specified at time of order and requires only an appropriate motor
mounting fixture and firing circuit to create a complete motor test system. LC125, an integrated 50 lbf load cell
and motor holder assembly, may be used with the RangePro 1000 for testing model rocket and other lower
impulse motors. When used stand-alone or with a computer, the RangePro 1000 offers an especially convenient
field, laboratory, or production-line measurement system.
The control/readout unit, approx 6" X 4" X 2" interfaces with the load transducer via a 25 to 150 ft. cable.
Power is furnished from an external 12V battery or an optional internal rechargeable battery with AC adapter for
use with standard 117 VAC source.

Normal Mode -
Start measurements when thrust first detected, greater than 0.8% full scale
Automatic quit when thrust drops below 0.8% full scale, after 2 second delay
to allow for reburn after any period of low thrust - chuffing
Chart Mode and Prestart Mode -
Measure full range of thrust (down to zero) until stopped by operator (Chart Mode)
Start when arming, before ignition (captures ignition) (Prestart Mode)
Rapid automatic zeroing of initial loading (tare) compensates for load cell offsets and motor weight if fired
vertically, ambient temperature variations, and other setup factors.
Reset: Prepares for new measurement. Previous data is retained until reset.
Arm: Auto-zero reference is frozen and the system is ready for motor firing.
Data: Selects the parameter to be shown on readout display. Selected parameter is indicated and will be displayed
during motor burn. Other parameter measurements are then selected and read after burn.
Delay: Selects whether or not to measure coast delay.
Calibrate: Built-in calibration checks accuracy of load cell with field adjustment.
Power: On/off control
